For 25 years, Pete has been recognized by the judiciary and by his peers (his fellow attorneys) as having the highest ethical standards and legal abilities available to attorneys in Pete’s areas of practice (Martindale-Hubbell [R] Peer Review Rated AV – Preeminent). Pete receives most of his clients as referrals from former clients and his fellow attorneys. Pete graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL and obtained his Juris Doctor, Cum Laud, from the University of Missouri where he was honored to serve on the U of M law review. Prior to opening his solo practice (Peter Smith Law Office) in 1991, Pete was a partner and owner in Hadsell, Landgraf and Smith, and before that he was the Senior Law Clerk for Chief Federal District Judge Wm. H. Becker in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri (Kansas City).

Pete resides in Niles with his wife, Susan. He enjoys playing golf with family and friends and especially enjoys watching his grandson, Braxton, participate in all of his sports activities. Pete is a life-long resident of Niles where he received his high school degree and where his sons, Alex, DJ and David, and his daughters, Savannah and Hanna all received their high school degrees. His grandchildren are just starting their adventure through the Niles Community School system. Pete is proud to have served on the Niles Community School Board of Education, including a three-year stint as its President and to have been a member of the local Board of Directors for Chemical Bank and Director and past President of Orchard Hills Country Club in Buchanan, MI.
